West Highlands, Lochs & Castles

A guided day tour to visit some of Scotland´s most atmospheric lochs and castles, the picturesque town of Inveraray, and the conservation village of Luss.

Leaving Edinburgh, you travel west, past Stirling castle to the day's first stop at the conservation village of Luss, on the banks of Loch Lomond. Wander about and enjoy the quaint houses and amazing views across the loch.

The scenery will soon become more dramatic as you travel through the steep-sided mountains known as the Arrochar Alps. From here you continue to the picturesque town of Inveraray on the shores of Loch Fyne. Here you can explore the 18th-century castle (open to visitors April-October), stroll around the town or head to the Old Jail.

From here you will travel north, there will be a photo stop at Kilchurn Castle. You will then continue through Callander and cross the Highland Boundary Fault Line. Next you will visit the famous medieval stronghold of Doune Castle. It was built over 600 years ago and is still in great condition. Here you can learn about how the castle has been used in filming sets, such as the Outlander series, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the The Outlaw King.

After a full day of visiting castles, rugged mountains and mysterious lochs you will return to Edinburgh and arrive in the capital in the early evening.
