East Berlin Walking Tour

See where East Berliners escaped under, over, and even right through the Berlin Wall on this 2-hour walking tour.

Experience a time when Berlin was divided into the capitalist West and the communist East on this guided tour. Uncover life in East Germany, where neighbours were encouraged to spy on one another, and escaping across the Berlin Wall was a deadly temptation. Find out how the Berlin Wall was set up secretly overnight in 1961. See memorials of those who lost their lives trying to get to the West and learn about what life in East Germany was really like then.

Together with your guide you will visit the Berlin Wall Memorial, Church of Reconciliation, the remains of the Berlin Wall, the “Death Strip” as well as the “Ghost Stations”. You will learn about the history of the divided Berlin, the story of “Tunnel 57”, the fall of the Berlin Wall, how Germany was split in two, and you will hear daring escape stories.
