We offer three different tour categories – Silver, Gold and Platinum.
The difference between the tour categories are the hotels and/or room types included, as well as the comfort level on the trains and overnight cruises.
Please refer to the listed accommodation and the services included for each tour for a full overview of the services included. Unique accommodations are described in more detail in the tour itineraries.
Important: In some locations, different hotel categories are not possible. In these cases, we have included the same hotel in all categories. Sometimes different room types are included.
Some tours may only be bookable in one category.
Hotel rooms in Europe are categorised in single, double, twin, triple or family rooms. Single rooms are generally smaller in size and offer a single bed or a queen-sized bed. A double room often has two beds attached to each other to form a double bed. A twin room has two separate beds. A triple or family room are often double rooms with a sofa bed that converts into a bed. Space may be restricted as a result. Some family rooms have a double bed and a bunk bed.
Unless otherwise specified all rooms have private facilities with either a shower or a shower above a bath. Some hotels offer both a bath-tub and a separate walk-in shower.
European trains normally offer 1st class, standard class seats and cabins. In category Silver, standard class bookings are always included. In category Gold and Platinum it is generally 1st class seats included. On some services no 1st class is available, this is specified in ´Services Included´ on each tour. On the overnight train service called Caledonian Sleeper, between London and Edinburgh, the cabin categories are somewhat different. Please read comments on the tour where this service is included.
Where ferries are included in the tour, we do not have any cabins or reserved seats booked. No overnight ferry sailings are included on our tours.
Please see comments on each individual tour as the standard of the ships /boats vary.
